Printed Works Relating to the Brownings
Apart from the primary and secondary sources listed in the Brownings’ Correspondence, Contemporary Reviews, Supporting Documents, and Browning Collections sections of this database, there exists an extensive body of printed works relating to the Brownings that includes the Brownings’ own writings, reference works, biographies, and criticism.
This section provides an unannotated bibliographical description of these works, commencing with Elizabeth Barrett Browning’s The Battle of Marathon, privately printed in 1820. Updates will occur at regular intervals.
Each entry has been assigned a unique number with the prefix “P” followed by the year of publication, to which is appended a three digit number based on the alphabetical order, by author, within the year. If a work is anonymous, the order is based on the title of a book or the name of the journal in which it appears.
